27-08-2015 - Capacitors for Wind Power Plants
FTCAP is a specialist producer of aluminum electrolytic and film capacitors, in small to medium batch quantities. While 50% of their production is of catalog standard items, the remaining 50% is dedicated to custom solutions developed in close collaboration with their customers. For both, they apply the full weight of our 65 years of experience.

FTCAP has low-inductance and space-saving solutions with a long life that are specially developed for use in wind power plants.  They offer a series of capacitors that are ideal for use in wind power plants. For example, the innovative FischerLink systems: this patented design gives users a ready-to-install module that requires no further installation and can easily be replaced.  Not to mention that the systems feature very low inductance. FTCAP designs and manufactures the capacitor modules according to customer specifications with electrolytic or film capacitors.

FTCAP also actively researches innovative capacitors for the special applications of wind energy – for example as part of the innovation cluster Power Electronics for Regenerative Energy Supply.

The project, which is coordinated by the Fraunhofer Institute for Silicon Technology in Itzehoe, researches new converter technology for wind power plants. FTCAP contributes its competences in the field of high-performance capacitors for converters to the project. A particular focus is on the high-temperature dielectric PEN-HV. This innovative material allows even better isolation of the capacitors for use at temperatures of up to 125 °C.
